The federal highway 440 (abbreviation: B 440 ) is a federal highway in Lower Saxony . It leads from the district town of Rotenburg (Wümme) to Bad Fallingbostel . It developed from an old army road from Napoléon Bonaparte .

It begins on the B 215 , leads through the so-called "Mühlenviertel" of Rotenburg (Wümme), passes the nearby Bothel and after about 20 km crosses the city center of the southeastern Visselhövede . Extend further to the southwest it crosses the Bomlitztal north of Bomlitz . In Dorfmark (district of Bad Fallingbostel) it crosses the state road 163 and meets the federal motorway 7 a little east of the village .
