The Federal Highway 235 (abbreviation: B 235 ) starts at the branch sending of A 43 and performs in a southerly direction over Luedinghausen and Castrop-Rauxel to the AS Witten -Zentrum at the A 44 , where it goes in the southern portion of the B 226 over.
history
The Provincial Road from Witten to Castrop-Rauxel was built around 1838 as the first north-south connection in the eastern Ruhr area and has been used by a regular stagecoach since July 1, 1839 . In 1855 this road was extended to Senden.
In the course of industrialization, traffic increased so much that the Märkische tram set up a tram line between Castrop and Witten from 1899 . This tram line 22 was shut down in 1951 and replaced by bus line 378, which is now served by the Bogestra .
Reichsstrasse 235, established around 1937, led from Witten to Sprockhövel-Hiddinghausen . This southern section of the route was downgraded to state road 525 in 2004 .

The B 235 runs through Lüdinghausen and then continues in a south-westerly direction past Olfen , where the B 235 crosses the route of the former Dortmund-Ems Canal . Shortly before Datteln , the B 235 crosses the Wesel-Datteln Canal and near the Henrichenburg ship lift it crosses the Rhine-Herne Canal . Immediately afterwards it crosses under the A 2 with the Henrichenburg junction and continues south to the Castrop-Rauxel junction on the A 42 . In the urban area of Castrop-Rauxel, the B 235 passes Haus Goldschmieding . The Zollern colliery is located in the Dortmund-Bövinghausen district , from there the route of industrial culture continues in an easterly direction to the Hansa coking plant . However, the B 235 continues in a southerly direction as a four-lane road to Dortmund-Lütgendortmund . The Ruhrschnellweg A 40 is crossed at the Dortmund-Lütgendortmund junction . The further course leads through Bochum-Langendreer in the direction of A 44 in Witten .
