Hiddinghausen is a district of Sprockhövel in the Ennepe-Ruhr district , North Rhine-Westphalia. Until 1970, Hiddinghausen was an independent rural community in the Haßlinghausen district .

history

Groß- and Klein-Hiddinghausen (Hiddinghausen I and II)

The area of the later municipality of Hiddinghausen was originally divided into the two independent municipalities Groß-Hiddinghausen (east of Elberfeld-Wittener Kohlestraße, today Landesstraße 525) and Klein-Hiddinghausen (west of the street). The central street village of Hiddinghausen, titular place of the two communities, was administratively divided by the street into two local areas, which depending on the side of the street were either in one or the other community. The houses on the east side of the street were named Hiddinghausen I to distinguish them, those on the west side Hiddinghausen II. Over time, this designation of the two districts of Hiddinghausen was transferred to the entire municipality including the hinterland. Therefore, especially in later times, Groß-Hiddinghausen was referred to as Hiddinghausen I and Klein-Hiddinghausen as Hiddinghausen II.

In 1818 the rural community of Klein-Hiddinghausen had 74 inhabitants and Groß-Hiddinghausen 186 inhabitants. In 1839 there are 161 inhabitants for Klein-Hiddinghausen and 466 for Groß-Hiddinghausen. At that time, Klein-Hiddinghausen owned 23 houses in eight places, while Groß-Hiddinghausen had 65 houses, a school and a public building on Rennebaum , which were spread over a total of 15 places.

Groß-Hiddinghausen belonged to the Haßlinghausen office , Klein-Hiddinghausen to the Sprockhövel office . Both communities initially belonged to the Hagen district , in 1887 they moved to the newly created Schwelm district . In the list of areas of the Province of Westphalia in 1897, the municipality of Hiddinghausen I had an area of 3.53 km². Hiddinghausen II was 2.27 km² in size.

The towns and places of residence Hiddinghausen II, Busche , Dahle , Egge , Hasenberg , Krüner , Siepen and Sonnenschein belonged to Klein-Hiddinghausen . Groß-Hiddinghausen included the towns and places of residence Hiddinghausen I, Röllinghof , Scheideweg , Am Schacken , Am Zippe , Ostholt , Leveringhausen , Erlen , Merlinghausen , Rennebaum , Auf der Divorce , Am Schloppe , Im Langenbruch , Hünninghausen and Am Uhlenbarth .

On August 1, 1929, both communities were taken over into the new Ennepe-Ruhr district and on April 1, 1937 merged to form the community of Hiddinghausen and affiliated to the Haßlinghausen office.

Hiddinghausen community

The community of Hiddinghausen existed from April 1, 1937 until it was incorporated into the Sprockhövel community on January 1, 1970.

On June 6, 1961 (day of the census) Hiddinghausen had 1,371 inhabitants. These lived on 5.83 km².

On January 1, 1970, Hiddinghausen was incorporated into the city of Sprockhövel in accordance with the provisions of the law on the reorganization of the Ennepe-Ruhr district of December 16, 1969 (GV NW p. 940), which now has 1,440 inhabitants.
