Obersprockhövel is one of the six districts of Sprockhövel in the Ennepe-Ruhr district in North Rhine-Westphalia . Until 1960 Obersprockhövel was an independent municipality in the Blankenstein office of the Ennepe-Ruhr district.

geography

Oberspröckhövel lies between Niedersprockhövel and Haßlinghausen , the two larger settlement centers of Sprockhövel. In contrast to Niedersprockhövel, Oberspröckhövel is a scattered settlement that emerged from an old peasantry without a village center. Obersprockhövel includes the settlements and living spaces Beisenbruch, Bossel, Brahm, Gethe, Dräing, Kötterei, Kreßsiepen, Leckebüschen, Löhen, Mesewinkel, Nockenberg, Oberdräing, Poppenberg, Pöten, Schmalenberg and Steinnocken.

history

Obersprockhövel originally belonged to the Office Blankenstein of the County of Mark and came to the French time to circle Hagen in the Prussian province of Westphalia . Since the 1840s Obersprockhövel was a rural municipality in the Sprockhövel office . In 1887 the community came to the Schwelm district and in 1929 to the Ennepe-Ruhr district. On August 1, 1960 Obersprockhövel was merged with Niedersprockhövel to form the municipality of Sprockhövel . On September 3rd, in the presence of the then Prime Minister Gustav Heinemann , the largest trade union training center in the world, the IGMetall training center, was opened .

Economic history

In the industrial age, the Obersprockhövel peasantry transformed into an outspoken workers' community.
