Gennebreck is one of six districts of the city of Sprockhövel in the Ennepe-Ruhr district , North Rhine-Westphalia . Until 1970 Gennebreck was an independent rural community in the Haßlinghausen district .
Location and description
Gennebreck is located in the west of Sprockhövel and borders in the west and in the south on Wuppertal (districts Nextebreck and Dönberg ) and in the north on Hattingen (district Oberelfringhausen ). Beyond the Herzkämper Mulde through which the Felderbach flows in the east lies the Sprockhövel district of Obersprockhövel . The Deilbach forms part of the western border with Wuppertal.
The southern border lies on the watershed between the river systems of the Wupper and the Ruhr . There is also the Hilgenpütt forest area . The mining history Herzkämper-Mulde-Weg , the Gennebrecker Rundweg and also the Wuppertaler Rundweg open up Gennebreck for hikers.
Gennebreck consists of the Kirchdorf Herzkamp as well as numerous suburbs and farms such as Äckern , Alter Schee , Alter Schneppendahl , Schee Train Station , Berge , Bredde , Birkenhof , Brink , Bruch , Busch , Egen , Einfeld , Ellerhäuschen , Erlen , Flüsloh , Frielinghausen , Gennebreckmühle , Großer Siepen , Heege , Hetberge , Horath , Huxel , Hütte / Sankt Moritz , Kickersburg , Kleiner Siepen , Kreiskotten , Kuhoß , Kuxloh , Lehn , Lohbusch , Mellbeck , Mettberg , New America , Neuer Schneppendahl , Ochsenkamp , Quellenburg , Rottenberg , Sauerholz , Scheerenberg , But , sticks , horse mackerel Becke , Stöckerbrögel and stubble breaking .
history
The predominantly rural area was up to the incorporation of an independent congregation in office Haßlinghausen the district Hagen (until 1887), the circle Schwelm (until 1929) and the Ennepe-Ruhr district (until 1970).
Since the Middle Ages was in Gennebreck in mines coal mined. The southernmost mine of the Ruhr mining , the Stöckerdreckbank colliery , was in Gennebreck. Ribbon weaving was very widespread in the community of Gennebreck .
In 1900 Gennebreck had 2182 inhabitants, in 1931 only 1477 (Protestant: 1368, Catholic: 69, others: 40). The total area of the municipality in 1900 was a total of 1258 ha, in 1931 it was 1034 ha. The differences are due to the assignments on the southern edge to the city of Barmen-Elberfeld . These took effect on August 1, 1929.
On January 1, 1970 Gennebreck was incorporated into Sprockhövel.
