The Felderbach is a tributary of the Deilbach (which in turn flows into the Ruhr ) in North Rhine-Westphalia .
It is located in the border area between the regions of North Rhine and Westphalia north of the city of Wuppertal and south of the Ruhr valley . The individual springs are located in the very north of Wuppertal directly on the border with the city of Sprockhövel at an altitude of 310 m above sea level. NHN . It then flows north for a few kilometers through the area of Sprockhövel and then through the southern part of the city of Hattingen . It flows the last kilometers before it flows through the northeast of the city Velbert to the district Nierenhof at an altitude of 75 meters in the Deilbach to open, which in turn flows just a few kilometers further north in the Ruhr.
The stream has a length of 12.7 kilometers. It flows through the Felderbachtal, named after him, and the so-called Elfringhauser Switzerland , a still predominantly rural, popular local recreation and hiking area between the Ruhr area and the city of Wuppertal with a few excursion restaurants. In the area of the 16 hectare nature reserve Oberes Felderbachtal , it forms the eastern border of a course on the Felderbach golf course.
On old maps the Felderbach is also called Rüschenbach .
In the past, the hydropower of the Felderbach and the Pleßbach was also used to drive water wheels of several cages and grinding cabins.

Mining
The stream rises in the mountains of the Sprockhövel coal layers and penetrates these layers to the north. The first hard coal mining in the south of the Ruhr area took place on the slopes of the brook .
From the 16th century, attempts were made to mine with many tunnels . The last tunnels that bundled the pit water from the Herzkämper collieries and diverted it into the Felderbach were the Kreßsieper Erbstollen and the Herzkämper Erbstollen , which inherited it.
