Niederstüter is a district of both the city of Hattingen and the city of Sprockhövel in the Ennepe-Ruhr district in North Rhine-Westphalia . Both districts formed a municipality until 1926 and belonged to the municipality of Bredenscheid-Stüter from 1926 to 1970 .

geography

The Hattinger part of Niederstüter borders in the north on the Hattingen district Bredenscheid , in the east on Sprockhövel, in the south on Oberstüter and in the west on Niederelfringhausen . The scattered settlement of the district extends mainly on both sides of the Paasstraße, the Wodantal, the Elfringhauser Straße and the Straße Am Stuten. Niederstüter belongs to the official district of Bredenscheid-Stüter in Hattingen and forms its own district there .

The Sprockhövel part of Niederstüter is located in the extreme northwest of the Sprockhövel city area. There is a dense settlement area on both sides of the Patience Path. Niederstüter forms its own official district in Sprockhövel.

history

Niederstüter was originally an old Westphalian peasantry in the Blankenstein district of the county of Mark . Since the 19th century Lower Stüter formed a rural community in the Office Hattingen the circle Bochum in Westphalia Arnsberg . Since 1885, the Hattingen district with the Niederstüter community belonged to the Hattingen district .

On April 1, 1926 Niederstüter was merged with the municipality of Bredenscheid to form the new municipality of Bredenscheid-Stüter . This initially belonged to the Hattingen district. After its dissolution on August 1, 1928, Bredenscheid-Stüter came to the new Ennepe-Ruhr district. The independence of this community ended on January 1st, 1970 with the incorporation of most of it into the city of Hattingen. Part of Niederstüter was reclassified to the city of Sprockhövel.
