Winz is a district and a district of the city of Hattingen in the Ennepe-Ruhr district in North Rhine-Westphalia . The community of Winz, which existed until 1970, also included other surrounding villages. Today it is part of the Winz-Baak district .
geography
Dumberg , Niederbonsfeld , Niederwenigern and Winz belonged to the municipality of Winz. The original core town of Winz is surrounded by the winegrower Ruhrbogen.
history
Since the 19th century, which lies along the Ruhr Winz formed a rural community in the Office Hattingen the district Bochum in Westphalia Arnsberg . Since 1885 the office of Hattingen and the municipality of Winz belonged to the district of Hattingen .
On April 1, 1926, the neighboring communities of Baak (with Rauendahl ), Dumberg and Niederwenigern were incorporated into Winz; also on May 15, 1926 Niederbonsfeld. Since August 1, 1929, the enlarged municipality of Winz has belonged to the new Ennepe-Ruhr district , at the same time part of the municipality was reclassified to Bochum . On April 1, 1939, Winz gave up the Baak community with Rauendahl to Hattingen.
On January 1, 1970, most of the municipality of Winz was incorporated into the city of Hattingen by the law to reorganize the Ennepe-Ruhr district . Some areas of Niederbonsfeld and Niederwenigern came to the city of Langenberg in the Düsseldorf-Mettmann district and are now part of the city of Velbert .
Of the suburbs of the former municipality of Winz, Winz today belongs to the Hattingen district of Winz-Baak . Niederwenigern and Dumberg form the Niederwenigern district and Niederbonsfeld forms its own district.

Architectural monuments
The Hofanlage Königsteiner Straße 106 in Winz is a listed building , as is the entire Winzer Ruhrbogen including the groynes , the towpath , the weir and the locks .

The most important traffic structure in Winz is the Ruhr Valley Railway's railway bridge , built in 1874 .
