  • The federal highway 441 (abbreviation: B 441 ) is a federal highway in Lower Saxony west of Hanover . It has a length of approx. 65 km and leads from Uchte to Hanover.

It essentially follows the course of a post road from 1688, which led from Hanover via Wunstorf and Stolzenau to Osnabrück .

    course

The B 441 starts at the federal road 61 at Uchte and leads around the place.

It runs in an easterly direction through the North German Plain and in Stolzenau takes the federal highway 215 from the south-west for about four kilometers .

After crossing the Weser , the B 441 swings to the southeast in Leese , while the federal highway 215 branches off to the north towards Nienburg / Weser . South of Leese, the federal highway 482 branches off towards the south to Ostwestfalen-Lippe .

The Evangelical Academy and the former Cistercian monastery are located in Loccum and there is an open-air dinosaur museum in Münchehagen .

After crossing the Rehburg mountains you will reach the former spa Bad Rehburg .

Shortly thereafter, on the Wiedenbrügger Berg, you can see the Steinhuder Meer on the left before reaching Hagenburg .

In Wunstorf, the B 441 runs on a short section together with the federal road 442 . The through-town is loaded with a high volume of traffic, which is why a bypass road has been under discussion for decades. A northern bypass of Wunstorf is currently preferred. There is currently no specific and reliable schedule.

In the 1980s, the B 441 was re - routed in Wunstorf and led as a traffic light-regulated, four-lane expressway over the Bremen – Hanover railway line . The reason was that the increasing volume of road and rail traffic through two neighboring level crossings (one crossed the Hanover – Bremen railway line , the other the Hanover – Minden railway line , which is shared in the Wunstorf railway station) led to considerable congestion in the through-town for individual traffic and the Public transport came.

Between the Wunstorf- Luthe junction, which is uneven in height, and the Federal Motorway 2 , the B 441 is alternately developed as a 2 + 1-lane expressway, as it has to accommodate considerable commuter traffic to Hanover and excursion traffic to the Steinhuder Meer.

The Mittelland Canal is crossed between Dedensen and Seelze , the course of which one follows. At the end of a long straight, this section of the route is provided with a few tight bends and unclear junctions, which leads to an accumulation of (sometimes fatal) accidents.

Around 2000, a new district was built south of the main road near Seelze; Their relocation is also being discussed for this section, as the junctions can no longer cope with the volume of traffic; on the other hand, a simple extension of the junctions is not possible because of the close proximity to the Hannover-Linden branch canal .

The B 441 reaches the state capital Hanover with its districts Ahlem and Limmer . It ends at the driveway to the Westschnellweg ( B 6 ) on the border with the Linden-Nord district .
