Winzlar is a district of the German city Rehburg-Loccum in Lower Saxony . The place is on the west bank of the Steinhuder Meer .
history
The present location was already inhabited in pre-Christian times. During construction work in 1969, a golden robe pin and a bronze basin were found in a cremation grave from the Bronze Age . Winzlar was first mentioned in a document in 1196. On the Haarberg between Winzlar and Rehburg , the castle and village of Münchhausen are believed to be the ancestral seat of the Münchhausen family . The site is said to have become desolate after 1335. A memorial stone there reminds of this.
On March 1, 1974, the previously independent community merged with Rehburg , Münchehagen , Bad Rehburg and Loccum to form the town of Rehburg-Loccum. Rehburg became the administrative seat.

Local mayor has been Rüdiger Dreßler (CDU) since 1996.
