Course of the road

The federal road 407 (abbreviation: B 407 ) runs from the German- Luxembourg border in Perl (junction with the B 419 ) via Saarburg , Zerf to Hermeskeil . This route used to be the western section of the B 327 . However, this section was rededicated as the B 407, as in the course of the construction of a new expressway between Hermeskeil and Saarbrücken, this was temporarily named B 327 in order to relocate the transit traffic. After the upgrade, this new line was to the current A 1 promoted.

From the rise of the Moselle in Perl to Potsdamer Platz between Borg and Münzingen (approx. 8 km in total), the B 407 is part of the Eichenlaubstraße , between Saarburg and Hermeskeil it is also part of the Hunsrückhöhenstraße , which is continued by the B 327 at Hermeskeil.

course

In Perl, the B 407 branches off from the B 419 in a north-east direction. After Perl it crosses the A 8 at junction 3 "Perl-Borg". In Trassem, the B 407 crosses the former course of the B 51 , which ran here before the Saar line was completed. Today's intersection with the B 51 is in Saarburg. There the B 407 branches off from the B 51 and meanders along the foothills of the Hunsrück . In Zerf it meets the B 268 (Saarbrücken – Trier).

Between Zerf and Hermeskeil, the B 407 runs almost largely through the Black Forest high forest . Shortly before Hermeskeil (near Reinsfeld) the B 407 is crossed by the B 52 . In Reinsfeld, it also connects to the A 1 at the Reinsfeld junction and then meets the B 327 coming from Hermeskeil.
