The federal road 296 (abbreviation: B 296 ) is a German federal road that connects the administrative district of Tübingen with the administrative districts of Karlsruhe and Stuttgart in Baden-Württemberg and runs from Tübingen via Herrenberg and Calw to Calmbach (district of Bad Wildbad ) in the north-eastern Black Forest .

In Tübingen the road branches off from the B 28 leading to Rottenburg am Neckar . At Herrenberg it is crossed by the A 81 and meets the B 295 coming from Stuttgart at the entrance to Calw . From there it leads down in wide serpentines with three lanes into the Nagoldtal . Directly in front of the city center of Calw, it passes under the Ziegelbach Bridge of the Black Forest Railway and the Nagold Valley Railway . Along the Nagold it runs together with the B 463 to Hirsau . Past Hirsau Abbey , the winding road leads up to Oberreichenbach and then with a steep gradient down into the Enz Valley , where it joins the B 294 .
