The former municipality of Affstätt has been one of today's eight districts of Herrenberg due to the municipal reform in Baden-Württemberg since September 1, 1965 .

geography

Affstätt is located in the Korngäu , around one kilometer from Herrenberg , near the federal highway 81 Stuttgart - Singen . The federal road 296 runs directly through the village - since the opening of the Herrenberg northern bypass in 2009, however, through traffic has decreased rapidly, even if the bypass was not undisputed. Affstätt lies at an altitude of 470  m above sea level. NN and has 2000 inhabitants (as of October 19, 2015). The district of Affstätt covers around 473 hectares and extends from the Kuppingen district (Römerweg) to the Black Forest settlement in the northwest. The border continues along the sports facilities at the shooting wall through the Affstätter Valley up the B 14, along the residential area Lämmleshalde to Schlossberg or Fichtenberg, then to Rötelberg to L 1194 Nufringen - Kuppingen . In 2009, the town was relieved of heavy through traffic with the construction of the Herrenberg northern bypass. In return, the district road 1043 (Affstätt - B 14) was closed to through traffic, as it is seen as dispensable. It is only available for agricultural and forestry traffic, bicycle traffic and traffic to the sports facilities (access and exit only from the direction of Affstätt).

history

Affstätt is mentioned for the first time in 1287 in the Sindelfingen Chronicle, at that time still called Affinstetten. Affstätt gained brief fame in 1972 when Richard Epple was shot dead by the police there.

Between 1400 and 1481 there was a sister collection in Affstätt . The old church in Affstätt was built by these sisters.

The following facilities are available in the village: district office, clubhouse, bakery, fire station , three kindergartens, elementary school, gymnasium and community hall, sports facilities, cemetery, Protestant church and community center, doctor, restaurant, hairdresser, physiotherapy practice and a restaurant (an ATM and a bank statement machine are located in the self-service point in the former Volksbank building).
