Unterjesingen is a district of the university town of Tübingen in the state of Baden-Württemberg . It is west of the city center .

location

Unterjesingen is located six kilometers west of the city center in the Ammertal at 361  m above sea level. NN . The upper part is on the southern slope of the Schönbuch .

traffic

The Ammertalbahn , which runs between Herrenberg and Tübingen, and the federal road 296 (until January 2018 federal road 28 ) in the direction of Herrenberg, which divides the village in two, run through the village.

Unterjesingen is one of the places with the highest levels of fine dust and pollutants in Germany. The number of days on which the EU limit value for fine dust (PM 10 ) and nitrogen dioxide (NO 2 ) was exceeded was 84 in 2006, making the Unterjesingen district sixth in the list of places with the most frequent exceedances.

The excessive values are based on the high volume of traffic in the town. In 2006, 22,000 vehicles passed the site every day. Due to this high number, traffic in the town center often came to a standstill, which further increased the levels of fine dust and pollutants. The Tübingen regional council reacted by putting a so-called gate light into operation at the western entrance to the town on July 30, 2007 . This traffic light causes the dragging traffic to be shifted to the location. This made it possible to achieve a slight reduction in the amount of pollutants.

politics

Michael Rak has been the mayor since 2004, his predecessor for many years was Fritz Maichle.

history

The village of Lachen , which was mentioned several times in the 13th century and which was probably located in today's suburb of Unterjesingen, has since disappeared .

On July 1, 1971, in connection with the administrative reform, the community of Unterjesingen was incorporated into the university town of Tübingen.

Economy and culture

With sports club, tennis club, volunteer fire brigade Unterjesingen, singing and music clubs as well as the fools guild and the aviation club Unterjesingen e. V. only the most important are mentioned here.

Part-time and hobby winegrowers are involved in viticulture on the southern slope of the Schönbuch , which was an important economic factor until a hundred years ago. In recent years, viticulture has experienced an upswing, also due to the increasingly warmer climate. The location is called Unterjesingen Sonnenhalde and belongs to the Upper Neckar area.

Most of the part-time wengerter (Swabian for "winemaker") serve their wine mostly in private broom taverns that are only open a few days a year, but there is also regional trade in bottled wine. There is a whiskey distiller that produces Swabian whiskey and fruit brandies.

Every year at the beginning of November the cherry festival takes place on the fairground at the sports grounds.

The Isinger village museum is located in the buildings of the former Roseck wine press and the Zeeb house in Unterjesingen. The focus of the exhibition is on viticulture in the Ammertal, the Württemberg village in the administrative district of the Blaubeuren and Bebenhausen monasteries, the importance of hop growing around 1900, rural tools and household items as well as pre-industrial handicrafts with objects by blacksmiths, wagons, cooper and saddlers, among others. For example, there are new and used horseshoes from oxen and cows that were harnessed to the carts until the 1970s.

The Roseck wine press was built in 1784 by the Bebenhausen monastery office, as can be deciphered on the keystone of the archway: CBPR (Closter Bebenhausen Pflege Roseck).

Next to the wine press is the historic farmhouse with a large vaulted cellar. It is called the Zeeb House because the Zeeb family lived there until 1986. In the meantime it has been time-consuming restored to its old state of construction and furnishings with old beds in the bedroom and even an outhouse.

The museum in Kirchhalde 9-10 in Tübingen-Unterjesingen is open every 1st Sunday of the month from May to November from 2pm to 6pm and by appointment.
