Roseck Castle is a castle complex in Schönbuch above the Ammer Valley near Unterjesingen .

history

The former castle Roseck was probably originally from Palatine of Tübingen at the time of Staufer built (1138-1254). It is first mentioned in 1287. Gottfried I († 1316), Count of Böblingen and Count Palatine of Tübingen, one of the Swabian counts whose resistance to King Rudolf broke in 1287, had to hand over this fortress ( castrum Rosseccke ) to this king . In the middle of the 14th century it came into the possession of the Lords of Ow, and finally of Burkhart von Hönstein, who sold the castle to Hinz von Hailfingen in 1408. He sold them on October 28, 1410 with the entire village of Jesingen (today Unterjesingen) to the Bebenhausen monastery.

Bebenhausen set up a monastery maintenance facility , the lower jurisdiction and the administrative seat for the villages of the Ammertal in the complex . When the monastery was dissolved in 1535/1536, the property passed to the Dukes of Württemberg ; the monastery maintenance came to the Wuerttemberg monastery office Bebenhausen in Lustnau and was then transferred to the Oberamt Herrenberg . In 1807 Roseck became a manorial domain . In 1824 the state domain went to the economist Karl Friedrich Sick from Stuttgart . In 1826 the millionaire son Rudolf Bernus from Frankfurt took over the estate. In 1850 his foster son Leonhard Benz inherited the Roseck estate, and in 1861 he sold it to Constantin Riedlinger (born May 19, 1821) from Rottenburg due to illness. In 1891 it passed to bank director Alfred von Kaulla from Stuttgart.

The farm was already managed under Riedlinger by the manager Guoth, whose son Heinrich Guoth bought the estate in 1898. The qualified farmer Guoth mainly ran dairy and fruit farming and was appointed to Stuttgart in 1900 as a member of the German state parliament . After his early death in 1909, his widow sold the castle property in 1917 to the soap manufacturer Franz Öchsle from Plochingen.

In 1947, Franz Öchsle gave Roseck Castle to the Franciscan Sisters of Schramberg - Heiligenbronn ( Rottweil district ), who moved into the castle. They managed the property belonging to it and built a convalescent home in 1958. In 1989 they leased the castle to a Franciscan life center operated by the “ Little Servants of Jesus ”. After only 14 months they moved out again because the director was being prosecuted for child abuse . The castle then became accommodation for asylum seekers.

On August 9, 1991, the historic castle was made uninhabitable by fire. An addict started the fire while drunk. The Franciscan Sisters of Heiligenbronn had the roof covered again, but the castle was no longer expanded. It remained as an empty shell.

In 1993 the castle became private property again; Oskar Eggenweiler from Sulz am Neckar acquired the property, which is enthroned high above the Ammer Valley, for 5.3 million German marks (2.71 million euros). The castle itself has been almost empty (as of January 2007); only one apartment is rented. According to Eggenweiler's original plans, a clinic for craniocerebral patients was to be built in the old building . In the annex, which had been built by the sisters in 1959, the Roseck Castle Nursing Society operated a home with 21 beds and ten apartments for assisted living. The nursing society, which was headed by Eggenweiler's wife Susanne, looked after patients who had been admitted to hospitals after strokes, traumatic brain injuries and other ailments. People with MS, people with severe neurological diseases, dementia or Alzheimer's were also included. The lease agreement between Eggenweiler and the care company for the retirement home should have run until the end of 2019.

In 2007 the property with all of the land was acquired by Markus Eggenweiler. Schloss Roseck GmbH continued to be the tenant of the land and planned extensive modernizations and expansions. On March 16, 2012, it became known that the Schloss Roseck care center had its operating license withdrawn by the Tübingen District Office due to various violations. In January 2014 the home operation was stopped and the castle was sold to a private buyer who wants to live in it himself. The castle has been on sale again for 4.5 million euros since autumn 2019.
