Heiligenbronn is a district of the city of Schramberg in the Rottweil district in Baden-Württemberg .

Heiligenbronn is 9 km northeast of Schramberg on the upper reaches of the Eschach .

history

It was originally called "Lichtenau" after a nearby castle. In the Middle Ages it was renamed after a healing spring ("holy well"). The place was first mentioned under the new name in 1385. The Heiligenbronn Monastery developed around the spring and now houses the St. Franziskus Foundation for the disabled .

In the Catholic Church of Heiligenbronn there are wall paintings by the Dutch painter Jan Verkade .
