history

On November 4, 994, the village of Messinga, today Waldmössingen, was first mentioned in a document from King Otto III. There was already a settlement in Waldmössingen before the year 994. In the Waldmössingen district with the Waldmössingen fort from the years 73/74 there are not only signs of a Roman past that can be seen from far away, but also indications that there were already signs of a Roman past here in the third millennium BC Chr. People have stopped.

In the period from 1250 to 1805, Waldmössingen passed to constantly changing noble families:

  • 1250–1374: Dukes of Theck
  • 1375–1392: Hohenberg and Austria
  • 1392-1445: Counts of Sulz
  • 1445–1463: Alpirsbach Abbey and Hirsau Abbey
  • 1463–1594: barons and counts of rooms
  • 1594–1657: Austria
  • 1658–1764: Barons von Hohenberg
  • 1765–1782: Barons von Pflübers
  • 1782–1805: Austria

In 1805 it came to Württemberg. There it initially belonged to the Schramberg sub-office in the Hornberg upper-office. In 1810 the place changed to the Oberndorf Oberamt , from 1934 Oberndorf district. With this, Waldmössingen came to the Rottweil district in 1938.

Waldmössingen has been part of the Schramberg community since December 1st, 1971.
