The Oberamt Oberndorf was an administrative district in the south-west of Württemberg (on attached map # 40) , which was renamed District Oberndorf in 1934 and dissolved in 1938, with its communities belonging to the Rottweil and Freudenstadt districts. For general remarks on the Württemberg upper offices, see Oberamt (Württemberg) .

After part of the Württemberg Oberamt Hornberg was ceded to Baden in 1810, the Oberamt Oberndorf emerged from the remainder of Württemberg (Unteramt Schramberg), the northern part of the Oberamt Rottweil (with the town of Oberndorf ) and part of the dissolved Oberamt Alpirsbach. Neighbors of the district assigned to the Black Forest District from 1818 to 1924 were the Württemberg regional offices of Freudenstadt , Sulz , Rottweil and the Grand Duchy of Baden .

Changes in the community since 1813
After the constitution of 1819 had prepared the basis for local self-government, the municipalities in today's sense were constituted from the courts of the former Alpirsbach monastery office, the "staffs":
- from the Peterzell staff the communities Peterzell, Reutin and Römlinsdorf;
- from the Rötenberg staff the communities Rötenberg and Baach, which later became Bach and Altenberg ;
- from the staff Ehlenbogen the communities Ehlenbogen and Achtzehn Höfe. The five courtyards , which were formerly subordinate to the Peterzeller staff, also belonged to the latter . In 1831 the parish changed its name to Twenty-Four Courtyards .
In 1839 Hardt was separated from Mariazell and raised to the status of an independent community.
Around 1850 Ramstein was reassigned from Epfendorf to Harthausen.
In 1866 Reichenbächle was reassigned from Rötenbach to Lauterbach.
In 1867 Schramberg received city rights.
In 1869 Alpirsbach was granted city rights.
In 1934 Sulgau was incorporated into Sulgen.
In 1938 Rötenbach was incorporated into Alpirsbach.
