Oberamt Leonberg
The Oberamt Leonberg was an administrative district in Württemberg (on attached map # 28) , which was renamed District Leonberg in 1934 and enlarged in 1938 by two communities to make up the District of Leonberg . For general remarks on the Württemberg upper offices, see Oberamt (Württemberg) .
The Oberamt, which belonged to the Neckar District from 1818 to 1924, bordered the Oberamt (from Stuttgart counterclockwise) Stuttgart Office , Ludwigsburg , Vaihingen , Maulbronn , Calw , Böblingen and in the west still had a share in the border with the Grand Duchy of Baden .
history
Leonberg , one of the first city foundations of the Counts of Württemberg , had been the capital of a bailiwick since the 14th century, from which the old Württemberg office, from 1758 Oberamt, Leonberg developed. The shifts that resulted from the establishment of the Ludwigsburg office in 1718 affected the Leonberg office in two places: Malmsheim received it, previously at the Böblingen office, but Weilimdorf had to hand it over to the Cannstatt office. From 1806, other places were incorporated into the Oberamt. In addition to places in old Württemberg that had previously belonged to other offices, this also affected the former imperial city of Weil der Stadt , which had its own office from 1803 to 1808.
Former gentlemen
In 1813, after the regional reform was completed, the district was made up of parts that had belonged to the following rulers in 1800:
-
Duchy of Württemberg
Most of the area belonged to the secular office of Leonberg, to which the Heimsheim winery was also subordinate. Other offices included:- Office (Mark-) Gröningen: Münchingen;
- Cannstatt Office: Weilimdorf;
- Herrenalb monastery office : Merklingen, Hausen;
- Maulbronn Monastery Office : Flacht, Wimsheim;
- Lower nobility under Württemberg sovereignty: Schöckingen, 1/2 Hemmingen, Korntal, Ihingerhof.
- Imperial city of Weil
-
Margraviate of Baden
Under the sovereignty of the state of Baden, the Obermönsheim manor, lent to the Barons of Phull-Rieppurr ( Pfuel ), stood .

Changes in the community since 1813
In 1819 the royal privileged municipality of Korntal was founded on the area of the Korntal manor.
In 1839 the civil parish of Perouse, previously located on Heimsheimer Markung, acquired its own territory.
In 1859 Leonberg and Eltingen signed a contract to align the mark and tax borders. Two parts of the area, together a good 450 hectares, were recruited from Eltingen to Leonberg.
In 1861 the Solitude marking was re-established from parts of the Gerlingen and Weilimdorf markings and assigned to the Gerlingen community.
In 1929 Weilimdorf and Feuerbach (Stuttgart District Office) merged. Weilimdorf left the Oberamt Leonberg.
In 1938 Eltingen was incorporated into Leonberg.
