Oberamt Balingen
The Oberamt Balingen was an administrative district in Württemberg , which was renamed the Balingen district in 1934 and enlarged in 1938 to include parts of the Sulz, Rottweil and Spaichingen districts to form the Balingen district . For general remarks on the Württemberg upper offices see Oberamt (Württemberg) , on the (former) Württemberg administrative structure in general see administrative structure of Württemberg .
history
The city of Balingen had been the capital of a Württemberg bailiwick since 1403 . The resulting old Württemberg office, since 1758 Oberamt, was considerably enlarged from 1806 through the incorporation of formerly Upper Austrian and knightly areas as well as the city of Ebingen (with Bitz ). However, in 1810 some of the newly added places were assigned to the Spaichingen District Office or ceded to Baden by State Treaty .
Neighbors were following the reorganization: the north and east, the Hohenzollern top offices Hechingen , Gammertingen , Sigmaringen and Strassberg , in the south of the Baden district office Meßkirch and Oberamt Spaichingen , in the West the upper offices Rottweil and Sulz and the Hohenzollern Oberamt Haigerloch .
The Oberamt, which was assigned to the Black Forest District from 1818 to 1924 , remained unchanged in its boundaries from 1810 to 1938.
Former gentlemen
In 1813, after the regional reform was completed, the district was made up of parts that had belonged to the following rulers in 1800:
- Duchy of Württemberg
Most of the old Württemberg places belonged to the secular office of Balingen. Ebingen formed its own office with Bitz, the domain Bronnhaupten belonged to the Rentkammergut . -
Vorderösterreich
The lords of Kallenberg (with Erlaheim) and Werenwag (with Unterdigisheim ), which were under the sovereignty of the County of Hohenberg, were awarded to the barons of Ulm-Erbach. -
Imperial Knighthood
In the knightly canton of Neckar-Black Forest of the Swabian knighthood, the lordships of Geislingen and Lautlingen belonged to the Barons Schenk von Stauffenberg . -
Margrethausen Monastery
The Franciscan monastery, located in the middle of the Lautlingen rulership and linked to the town of Ebingen by an umbrella contract since the 15th century, was taken over by Württemberg in 1802. It had modest real estate (including the two farms of Ober- and Unterwannental), but no sovereign rights were attached to it.
