Oberamt Gammertingen
The Obervogteiamt (from 1827 Oberamt ) Gammertingen was an administrative district in the south of what is now the German state of Baden-Württemberg . It existed under changing rulers until 1925, most recently from 1850 as the Prussian Oberamt in the Hohenzollern Lands .
history
At the end of the Old Kingdom , the Barons von Speth owned the imperial knighthoods of Gammertingen and Hettingen, which controlled the canton of Danube . At the beginning of December 1805, Württemberg took possession of the manor , but had to vacate it again in September of the following year because Article 23 of the Rhine Confederation Act assigned the two lords to the Principality of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen . Since the Speth were left with their rights as landlords and tithe lords, the Spethsche Obervogteiamt Gammertingen continued, but was under the sovereignty of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen and at the same time fulfilled the duties of a princely Oberamt. The representative building on Gammertinger Marktplatz (today Hohenzollernstrasse), built in 1724/25 by the later Oberschultheißen Clavell, still served as the official building . In 1814 the lordly Spethsche Obervogteiamt Hettingen was abolished and merged with the Gammerting authority. On June 6, 1827, the Speth families sold their remaining rights, land and buildings to Prince Anton Aloys from Sigmaringen . From then on, the Oberamt Gammertingen existed as a sovereign authority, even after the sovereignty had passed to Prussia in 1850.
By the law to simplify the administration of October 7, 1925, the Oberamt was abolished and largely added to the newly formed district of Sigmaringen . Only the communities of Melchingen , Ringingen and Salmendingen came to the district of Hechingen .
Associated places
After the transfer of state sovereignty to Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen, the Gammerting authority was initially only responsible for the area of the former knighthood, which, in addition to the official city, included the villages of Feldhausen, Harthausen bei Feldhausen, Kettenacker (with the Lusthof) and Neufra (with the Birkhof). In 1814, Hettingen and Hermentingen were added by the dissolved Obervogteiamt Hettingen . By ordinance of June 15, 1827, the Oberamt was rebuilt as a sovereign authority and at the same time expanded to include the towns of Benzingen, Harthausen an der Scheer, Veringendorf and Veringenstadt, previously Oberamt Sigmaringen . By ordinance of October 15, 1840, the Oberamt Gammertingen was expanded to include Hochberg and Inneringen, previously Obervogteiamt Jungnau ; at the same time it lost Benzingen and Harthausen an der Scheer to the upper office of Straßberg . The latter was repealed by an ordinance of January 18, 1854 and the majority was assigned to the Oberamt Gammertingen. A final enlargement took place on August 9, 1861, when the five municipalities of the dissolved Oberamt Trochtelfingen fell to the Oberamt Gammertingen .
From 1861 until its dissolution, the Oberamt thus comprised the following communities:
