The Obervogteiamt , from 1846 Oberamt , Trochtelfingen was an administrative district in the south of what is now the German state of Baden-Württemberg . It existed under changing rulers from 1565 to 1861, most recently from 1850 as the Prussian Oberamt in the Hohenzollern Lands .

history

In 1534, the Werdenberg rule in Trochtelfingen passed to the Fürstenberg family by inheritance . Initially, the administration was in the hands of the Jungnauer Obervogts, until 1565 a separate Obervogteiamt was established in Trochtelfingen. As the rule in 1806 by Act of Confederation in favor of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringens mediated was the prince remained von Furstenberg as a nobleman certain rights, the lower courts and the right to hunt. From then on the Obervogteiamt Trochtelfingen existed as a patrimonial office under Hohenzollern sovereignty. After a tumult in front of the Trochtelfingen town hall, Fürstenberg renounced his sovereign rights in March 1848 . After the transfer of sovereignty to Prussia in 1850, the Oberamt Trochtelfingen initially existed until it was repealed by a decree of August 9, 1861 and incorporated into the Oberamt Gammertingen . The seat was the Werdenberg Castle in Trochtelfingen .

Associated places

From 1584 until its dissolution, the Ober (vogtei) office remained unchanged in its extent. In addition to the town of Trochtelfingen, it included the villages of Melchingen , Ringingen , Salmendingen and Steinhilben . The district, which is around 93 square kilometers in size and consists of two spatially separated parts, had a good 3,000 inhabitants at the beginning of the 19th century.
