Oberamt Hechingen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Oberamt Hechingen was an administrative district in the south of today's German state Baden-Württemberg . The Hohenzollern Oberamt belonged to the Principality of Hohenzollern-Hechingen until 1850 , then as part of the Hohenzollern Lands of Prussia until its dissolution in 1925 .

history

At the end of the 16th century, the ancestral land of the House of Hohenzollern , the county of Zollern , which was ruled in 1623 , had reached its final expansion. During the upheavals of the Napoleonic era, the Principality of Hohenzollern-Hechingen retained its sovereignty, but did not experience any significant area expansion. A change in the administrative structure was therefore not necessary. The Hechingen Justice Chancellery acted as the lower administrative and judicial authority, which was also known as the Oberamt before 1800 . She was responsible for the entire principality, except for the Christian residents of the residential city, who were subordinate to the city office . As a result of the revolutionary events of 1848, the principality received a new constitution. The higher district court was established as an independent authority, at the same time the city office was incorporated into the higher office. After 1850, the Oberamt Hechingen continued to exist as a Prussian authority. By the law to simplify the administration of October 7, 1925, it was merged with the Upper Office Haigerloch and three municipalities of the Upper Office Gammertingen to form the district of Hechingen .
