Starzeln is a village on the Swabian Alb in the Zollernalb district in Baden-Württemberg . The current district of Burladingen is 4.5 kilometers west-northwest of the city center at 656  m above sea level. NN and has 520 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).

geography

Starzeln is in here Killertal -called valley of the Neckar -Zuflusses Starzel . In the local area, the Scharlenbach flows into it from the left, which is why the Killertal shows a western valley widening and quite flat left-hand slopes with open meadows.

The district marking extends along the central, north-north-westerly valley axis between the inlet and outlet of the Starzel for only about one kilometer, while it measures over five kilometers across it (in each case as the crow flies ). history

St. John

Starzeln was first mentioned in 1090 when a gift was given to the St. Georgen monastery . The place came from the Lords of Jungingen to the Order of St. John , from which the village came to Württemberg in 1300 . The Johanniter kept their Jungental branch to the west of the village, which was part of the Hemmendorf order . The complex with church and hospital was demolished in the 18th century. The Counts of Zollern acquired the place in 1473 from Württemberg and in 1606 also the Johanniter branch.

The Starzeln coat of arms depicts the Johanniterkreuz .

Starzeln had 422 inhabitants in 1790 and 1842 and 335 in 1890.

On January 1, 1973, Starzeln was incorporated into Burladingen.

The federal road 32 and the main line of the Hohenzollerische Landesbahn run through the village from Hechingen to Sigmaringen , which serves the Hausen-Starzeln stop.
