Stetten under Holstein

Stetten unter Holstein is a district of Burladingen in the Zollernalbkreis in Baden-Württemberg ( Germany ).

geography

Stetten unter Holstein is located in the upper Laucherttal, directly on the upper reaches of the Lauchert , near the confluence of the Lauchert with the Erpf . Direct neighbors are (clockwise from north to south) Erpfingen , Hörschwag , Burladingen and Melchingen .

history

Stetten unter Holstein was first mentioned in a document in 1275. The noble Hölnsteiner family probably built two castles here , one immediately north of the cemetery, Aufhofen Castle , and Hölnstein Castle . Count Jobst Nikolaus von Zollern bought Hölnstein Castle in 1474 and also acquired part of the village. The county of Zollern bought the remaining part in 1584. In 1660 Stetten unter Holstein had only 21 inhabitants after five families emigrated to Hungary during the Thirty Years War . After Hohenzollern-Hechingen and Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen fell to Prussia in 1850 , Stetten developed economically as part of the Hohenzollern Lands ; the number of inhabitants rose to 446 in 1864 and 454 in 1895. In 1908/1909 Stetten received a public water supply, and from 1914 the community was supplied with electricity.

In 1959 a new school building was built, and from 1961 to 1963 the new Catholic Church of St. Sylvester. On January 1, 1973 the community lost its independence and was incorporated into Burladingen. In 1977/1978 a gymnasium and festival hall was built in the town center.
