On the afternoon of April 30th, the young men of the village set up the maypole. In the evening, the May Festival takes place on the Thanheimer Ebersberg. A big May fire is lit here.
The name of the Thanheimers has a historical reason: "Maurochen". This is another name for the morel mushroom that can be found in the forests around Thanheim and was previously collected by the Thanheimers. Based on this historical fact, a tavern is named Morchel and the local jester association is called Maurochen.
