Stich (also Thanheimer Steige ) is the slang expression for a section of the state road 360 between the district Thanheim of the municipality Bisingen and the Albstädter district Onstmettingen or the intersection of the L360 and the K7141 to Pfeffingen . The Gasthaus Stich of the same name is located at this intersection on the top of the pass .
The route is a steep road with several serpentines on the Albaufstieg and connects the municipality of Bisingen (located on federal road 27 ) with the city of Albstadt on the Swabian Alb . It is one of three important connections in the Zollernalbkreis to the Swabian Alb next to the federal road 463 from Balingen to Albstadt and the federal road 32 from Hechingen to Burladingen.
The stitch is 3.8 kilometers long from the exit of Thanheim to the top of the pass and overcomes an altitude difference of 209 meters. The road runs largely parallel to the valley-forming Klingenbach .
landslide
On April 22nd, 1980, a severe landslide destroyed the entire road, caused by the combination of snowmelt , heavy rainfall and an earthquake that shook the Zollernalb district. As a result of the landslide, the road had to be completely closed and completely renewed for three years.
Due to the unstable subsurface, the road often slips. In 2010 and 2011, therefore, several drainages and underground reinforcements were installed to prevent or minimize further slipping.
