Beuren is a district of Hechingen in the Zollernalbkreis in Baden-Württemberg ( Germany ).

geography

The village is about six kilometers northeast of the city center, high above the Starzel valley on a plateau. It lies directly at the foot of the exposed Dreifürstenstein (854 meters above sea level) and is surrounded by the Beurener Heide with its protected juniper heaths.

The village was always Zolleric , but the name of the Dreifürstenstein refers to the border location of the district. For almost 400 years the territories of the former Grand Duchy of Württemberg , the Principality of Fürstenberg and the Principality of Hohenzollern-Hechingen met here . The legend of the Dreifürstenstein to have the three princes there sit at a table without having to leave their country.

During the regional reform in Baden-Württemberg , Beuren was incorporated into the city of Hechingen on April 1, 1972.

politics

The princes of Hohenzollern-Hechingen appointed a Vogt to administer Beuren until the March Revolution in 1848. After Prince Constantine's abdication, the mayors of the then independent community were elected. Today a local council and honorary mayor is elected. This office is held by Peter Gantner.
