Stetten is a district of Hechingen in the Zollernalbkreis in Baden-Württemberg ( Germany ).

geography

Stetten is located immediately to the east of the city center and is separated from Hechingen by federal highway 27 . The Reichenbach flows through the town and flows into the Starzel in Hechingen .

history

The first documented mention of Stetten dates back to around 1130 in connection with a donation to the Zwiefalten monastery . The village was always zollerish . The former Stetten Monastery , founded in 1267 as an Augustinian monastery, was the tomb of the Counts of Zollern in the 13th and 14th centuries . The monastery church of St. Johannes was built around 1280 as an early Gothic building and was used by Dominican women. The monastery itself was almost completely destroyed in a fire in 1898. Former Stetten owned the early Gothic glass panes from the 13th century in the chapel at Hohenzollern Castle.

During the regional reform in Baden-Württemberg , Stetten was incorporated into the city of Hechingen on August 1, 1971.
