Owingen is a district of Haigerloch in the Zollernalbkreis in Baden-Württemberg ( Germany ) and is located in the southwest of the municipality.
The farms Birkenhof, Bühlerhof, Dietenbachhof, Weiherhof and “Gipsmühle” belong to Owingen.
The village of Owingen is located in the Eyachtal on the federal road 463 , the feeder to the A 81 motorway .
The foundation Owingens goes to the Alemanni back. The Alamanni named the place after the elder Ovvo or Owo and added a -ingen . Owingen is the place of the elder Owo, founded around the year 450. The name Owingen was first mentioned in a document in 1094 when the " Suitgerus von Owingen " donated goods to the monastery of Sankt Georgen in the Black Forest .
On January 1, 1975 Owingen was incorporated into the town of Haigerloch. In 1994 the Owingers held a big party to mark the 900th anniversary.
The oldest Romanesque church in Hohenzollern , the hamlet church , is located near Owingen . It was originally the parish church of the hamlets of Oberowingen and Unterowingen. Only the church of Oberowingen remained. A patronage association was founded to renovate the church. The hamlet church was named " Monument of the Month March 2009" by the Monument Foundation Baden-Württemberg .
Owingen is on Hohenzollernstrasse .
