Wolfram Angerbauer (born June 7, 1938 in Karlsruhe ; † September 10, 2011 in Bukhara , Uzbekistan ) was a German archivist .

life and work

Angerbauer moved with his parents to Backnang soon after his birth , where he grew up and did his Abitur. Then he studied at the University of Tuebingen history and a doctorate in 1969 on the Chancellery at the University of Tübingen and its owner from 1590 to 1817 . During his studies in 1958 he became a member of the Christian student union Tübingen Wingolf and was the national spokesman for the umbrella organization Wingolfsbund in 1959/60. After completing his archival training at the Marburg archive school and working at the Stuttgart State Archives , he became the district archivist of the Heilbronn district in 1972 and remained so until his retirement in 2003.

Numerous community and local archives in the entire district of Heilbronn were made accessible during Angerbauer's time in office, and over 70 finding aids were created, some by himself, some under his guidance. He also tried to make the aristocratic archives important for regional historical research such as that of the Counts of Neipperg in Schwaigern more accessible. Angerbauer published numerous articles in historical journals and yearbooks and worked on many local chronicles and home books.

The conception of the exhibition in the Museum of the History of the Jews in the District and City of Heilbronn , which opened in 1989 in the Affaltrach synagogue , also came from Angerbauer, who was an honorary member of the Friends of the former Affaltrach synagogue . From 1978 to 2004 Angerbauer was second chairman of the Heilbronn Historical Society , of which he was made an honorary member in 1998 and for which he led numerous excursions.

At the beginning of his retirement, Angerbauer moved to Tübingen in 2003 , but was still committed to historical research in the Heilbronn area. He died in 2011 while traveling abroad in Bukhara, Uzbekistan.
