history

Wessingen was first mentioned in a document in 786, when the St. Gallen monastery received property in the village. Soon afterwards the place came to the Hattenhuntare . After Wessingen belonged to the County of Zollern , it formed the Wessingen office in the 16th and 17th centuries . In 1790 Wessingen had 250, in 1834 395 and in 1890 462 inhabitants.

On March 1, 1972, the formerly independent community was incorporated into Bisingen.

leisure

Several clubs are based in Wessingen, including a soccer club of FC Wessingen 1959 eV Furthermore, there is also a local history club in Wessingen that conducts local research. One group of the Heimatverein is the group of fools "Gempleswatter". Quote from the sources:

" The Gempleswatter figure dates from around 1800. At that time, Wessingen was criss-crossed by many small streams and ditches. Some of these small streams and ditches even ran through gardens and barns and are in places still visible today embedded high walls and still had natural fords. As a result, Wessingen was often flooded in the previous centuries and therefore had rather poor roads and paths on which pools of water formed, which gave the Wessingen the name "Gempleswatter" ".

Food and accommodation

There is an Italian restaurant in Wessingen. There is no inn or hotel, but the Zollern holiday home does.
