Oberamt Ostrach

The Oberamt Ostrach was an administrative district in the south of what is now the German state of Baden-Württemberg . It existed under changing rulers until 1862, most recently from 1850 as the Prussian Oberamt in the Hohenzollern Lands .

Early 18th century the Cistercians - Salem Abbey , since the late Middle Ages the dominant landlord in and around Ostrach , there also acquired the sovereignty. In 1803, § 13 of the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss assigned the Salmannsweiler office of Ostrach in the entire scope of its current administration to the Prince of Thurn und Taxis , who was already present in the region as the owner of the Friedberg-Scheer county . As the rule in 1806 by Act of Confederation in favor of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringens mediated was kept Thurn und Taxis as Standesherr certain rights, the lower courts and the right to hunt. From then on the Oberamt Ostrach existed as a patrimonial office under Hohenzollern sovereignty. After the transition to Prussia in 1850, the civil patrimonial jurisdiction was abolished in 1852. In the course of a simplification of the administration, the Oberamt Ostrach was abolished by decree of March 28, 1862 and incorporated into the Oberamt Sigmaringen .

In addition to the parish village and market town of Ostrach, the Oberamt included the parish villages Einhart , Levertsweiler , Magenbuch and Tafertsweiler , the villages and hamlets of Bachhaupten, Eschendorf, Gunzenhausen, Lausheim and Spöck , the Arnoldsberg farm and, as an exclave , part of the hamlet of Burgau . Two places of foreign rule were enclosed as enclaves : Dichtenhausen and Wirnsweiler, which from 1806 belonged to Baden and Württemberg respectively .
