history

Einhart on a map with the “Description of the East Rachian District” from 1697

In 1220 a village named Ygenhart was mentioned for the first time . It belonged to the Grafschaft Friedberg and was mentioned as a fiefdom in 1294 by the brothers Gremlich zu Pfullendorf and the Humpis . In the centuries that followed, the Gremlichs acquired more and more rights in the village, which they sold to the Constance Monastery in 1591 . In 1603 the property came to the Salem monastery , which Einhart assigned to his office in Ostrach . Two hundred years later, Einhart became the property of the Thurn und Taxis family , in 1806 under the sovereignty of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen and with this in 1850 to Prussia .

As part of the regional reform in Baden-Württemberg , Einhart was incorporated into Ostrach on October 1, 1974.

The Catholic parish church of St. Nicholas began in the 16th century and was remodeled in 1718. The choir is vaulted with a net and painted in 1524. It shows the Twelve Apostles . The furnishings include Gothic wooden figures, a bronze lecture cross with a body from around 1200, a cross from around 1525 and round medallions from the 17th century . The painted Way of the Cross is a work by Johann Nepomuk Meichsner from 1762.
