Culture and sights

Mauritius Chapel

Buildings

  • The St. Mauritius chapel is one of the oldest in Linzgau; it was built in the Romanesque period and is characterized by its valuable wall frescoes. These come from an unknown painter from around 1460 and depict the Last Supper, the prayer on the Mount of Olives and the capture.
  • The old mill was built in 1501 and was initially used as a saw, linseed oil and grain mill. Today it is one of over a hundred mills on Mühlenstraße Oberschwaben and an inn with a hotel.
  • Wall frescoes in the Mauritius chapel in Waldbeuren
There has been a forge in the village since around 1500, which was built in 1748 in its current form. The tradition of master blacksmiths on this property ended with Otto Schlegel in 1919.
