Geographical location

Eimühle is located in the valley of the Ostrach around 5.6 kilometers northwest of the center of Ostrach between the other suburbs Habsthal in the west and Einhart in the southeast.

history

In 1281 a mill of the Habsthal monastery was first mentioned here. In documents it is also called Aiesmyhl , Aichmihle , Eÿmühl and Eymühle .

Miller and owner of the mill
  • 1675: Miller Hans Jörg Bauknecht
  • until 1781: Müller Knäpple
  • from 1781: Gerold Neher

From 1839 to 1981 the mill was owned by the Burth family:

  • 1839: Schultheiß and Müller Joseph Burth
  • 1903: Joseph Burth
  • 1937 to 1981: Gustav Burth (1905–1983)

The baroque mill building from 1634, now a listed building, has been inhabited by the Hemberle family since 1985, and they run a pottery here .

Others

The egg mill is one of over a hundred mills on the " Mühlenstraße Oberschwaben ". A small power station uses the Ostrach's hydropower to generate electricity.
