Hahnennest is a suburb of Burgweiler , one of eight localities in the Baden-Württemberg community of Ostrach in the Sigmaringen district .

Geographical location

The suburb of Hahennest is 5.6 kilometers southwest of the center of Ostrach, south of the Altshausen – Schwackenreute railway line , between Mettenbuch in the west, Burgweiler in the east and Ochsenbach in the south.

history

The place Hanennest was first mentioned in 1246 and sold to the Salem Monastery in 1454 . In 1637, Hahnennest and Burgweiler went to the county of Heiligenberg .

In the course of the regional reform in Baden-Württemberg , the municipality of Burgweiler was incorporated into Ostrach on January 1, 1975 with the town of Hahnennest.

Culture and sights

Buildings

The Catholic branch chapel St. Michael was built in 1610. It appears as a plastered solid building with a wooden roof turret with an a '' bell from the Grüninger bell foundry from 1949. The furnishings include an oil painting on canvas from 1622 (it shows the Descent from the Cross), a votive picture from 1684 (Saint George) and a late Gothic wooden statuette of a saint.

Both the “ Chapel of St. Michael ” (Hahnennest 8; 1610) and a “ fountain made of a cast-iron fountain shaft and fountain trough ” (at Hahnennest 4/1; 1906) are under monument protection .
