The Margot-Marsh Mausmaki ( Microcebus margotmarshae ), also Antafondro Mausmaki- called, is a on Madagascar living primate species from the kind of mouse lemurs within the group of lemurs . The species, which was only described in 2008 , is only known from the type locality , the Antafondro Classified Forest north of the Andranomalaza river in northern Madagascar, but could also occur in higher regions of the Tsaratanana National Park .

features

The Margot Marsh mouse lemur is a medium-sized mouse lemur and reaches an average head-trunk length of eleven to twelve cm with a tail length of 14 cm and an average weight of 49 g. The back fur and the tail are mainly reddish to orange in color with a grayish undertone, the peritoneum is whitish to cream-colored. The head is conspicuously reddish-orange, the muzzle and the region around the eyes are light brown. There is a white stripe on the bridge of the nose between the eyes. The ears are comparatively small.

Way of life

The Margot Marsh Mausmaki lives in dry forests . The exact way of life of the species has not yet been researched. Like other mouse lemurs, it will be nocturnal and feed primarily on insects and fruits. Because of the small, fragmented, only around 1,100 km² distribution area, it is considered endangered by the IUCN (endangered).
