The Tsaratanana National Park is an integrated nature reserve of the highest level I of the UICN classification in the north of Madagascar . It is not open to visitors.

geography

The national park includes the volcanic massif of Madagascar's highest mountain, the Maromokotro with 2876 m. It is located 57 km north of the village of Bealanana in the Diana region , near the border with the neighboring Sofia region . The next bigger city is Antsiranana (Diego Suarez).

fauna and Flora

The reserve is home to 20 species of mammals, half of which are lemurs , and 94 species of birds. His mascots are the Malegasse owl and the Madagascar snake hawk .

Its vegetation consists of damp, dense tropical forest.
