The Andringitra National Park ( French : Parc National Andringitra ) is a protected area and national park in the Haute Matsiatra region of Madagascar . It covers an area of 311.6 km². The park has around 15,000 inhabitants and is characterized by dense mountain forests and prairies. In 2007 the area was declared a World Heritage Site as part of the Atsinanana rainforest .
The area had already had the status of Reserve Naturelle Integrale since 1927, and only became a national park in 1999. It is located in the Andringitra Mountains .
