The National Park Ankarafantsika is one of the oldest national parks of Madagascar in the region Boeny .
geography
It is located 114 km south of the port city of Mahajanga and 450 km north of the capital Antananarivo . National road 4 (Antananarivo - Mahajanga) crosses the park. The next villages are Andranofasika (4 km), Ankazomborona (23 km). and Marovoay (41 km). The river Mahajamba forms the eastern border and the Betsiboka to the west . The Ravelobe Lake is part of the national park.
Fauna & flora
Eight different species of lemur live in the national park, including the Mongozmaki , the Coquerel sifaka and the Western fat -tailed lemur , 129 species of birds, including the Madagascar sea eagle (Ankoay), of which 75 are endemic. Furthermore, numerous reptiles such as: chameleons , iguanas, snakes and freshwater turtles.
The flora of the national park is extremely lush, there are 823 species, of which 82% are endemic.
