The nature reserve Cap Sainte Marie , also called Cap Vohimena , is located in the south of the island of Madagascar . It has an area of ​​1750 ha.

The nature reserve is 63 km south of Tsihombe and 230 km from Fort-Dauphin (Tolagnaro).

Wildlife

What is particularly impressive about this reserve is the concentration of turtles that live there. Up to 3000 pieces were counted here on one km². Of species that come here mainly radiated tortoise ( Geochelone radiata ) and the spider tortoise ( Pyxis arachnoid ) ago.

You can also find the brown mouse lemur , a tiny lemur of 15 cm, the endemic Madagascar sand iguana ( Chalarodon madagascariensis ) and the yellow colored bat Rousetus madagascariensis .
