The Gray-brown Mausmaki ( Microcebus griseorufus ) is an on Madagascar living primate species from the kind of mouse lemurs within the group of lemurs .

features

Gray-brown mouse lemurs are relatively small representatives of their genus, which differ from other species by their light fur color. They reach a head body length of 11 to 13 centimeters, plus a 14 to 15 centimeter long tail. Their weight is 46 to 85 grams. Their fur is gray on the back and white on the belly. A striking red-brown eel line runs along the back , and the tail is also red-brown. The head is rounded, there is a light mark between the large eyes.

Gray-brown mouse lemurs are common in southwestern Madagascar, but the exact limits of their range are not known. They can be found in a number of habitats including thorn savannahs, gallery forests, and deciduous forests.

Way of life

Gray-brown lemurs are nocturnal and usually stay in the trees. There they move on all fours or jump. Their diet consists of fruits and insects; in contrast to other mouse lemurs, they often also eat tree sap.

Danger

The main threat to the gray-brown lemur is the destruction of their habitat. Although the numbers are presumably declining, according to the IUCN not yet to a worrying extent. It lists the species as "not endangered" ( least concern ).
