geography

Geographical location

Kettenacker is about seven kilometers east of Gammertingen and northeast of Hettingen in the southwest of the Swabian Alb , the so-called Zwiefalter Alb.

Districts

The former princely Hohenzollern domain Lusthof ( 48 ° 14 ′  N , 9 ° 18 ′  E ) belongs to the district to the south .

history

A prehistoric settlement was found in the Buchäcker district .

The first documentary mention of Kettenacker dates back to 1194 and occurs in connection with the naming of the church. In 1419 a patronage was recorded. Around 1440, the Hinterlichtenstein Castle and the Kettenacker of Wolf von Lichtenstein, who in 1420 had canceled the Geroldseck feud with the von Geroldseck against the rule of Wirtenberg, fell to the rule of Gammertingen . When the Gammertingen rule was divided in 1557, 1599 and 1620 within the von Speth family , Kettenacker always stayed with Hettingen. Franz Joseph Speth sold Kettenacker with Lusthof in 1753 to the Speth-Gammertingen line because of heavy debts.

On December 5, 1805, the Württemberg bailiff Braun von Zwiefalten entered the village belonging to the Gammertingen rule with 26 soldiers. This temporary occupation of Württemberg was lifted by the treaty Rheinbund act of 1806 and the sovereignty of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen was granted. The Speth'sche Amt Hettingen from then on was merged in 1814 with the Speth'sche Amt Gammertingen for joint police and court administration. From 1827 part of the Hohenzollern, 1850 Prussian Oberamt Gammertingen , in 1925 it became part of the Sigmaringen district (Altkreis).

Kettenacker was incorporated into Gammertingen on January 1, 1975.
