Oberamt Brackenheim

The Oberamt Brackenheim was an administrative district in Württemberg (on attached map # 8) , which was renamed the Brackenheim district in 1934 and dissolved in 1938. Three communities were added to the district of Vaihingen , the rest came to the district of Heilbronn . For general comments on the Württemberg upper offices, see Oberamt (Württemberg) .

Württemberg acquired a large part of the Zabergäus as early as the 14th century . The subsequently expanded property was divided between the offices, from 1758 Oberämter, Brackenheim and Güglingen . The latter was dissolved in 1808 and incorporated into the Oberamt Brackenheim, which also received some formerly German-Nordic or knightly places that had come to Württemberg through the Rhine Confederation Act . At the same time, the newly created Kameralamt (financial authority) of the Brackenheim district , which was created by the restructuring of the state economy by King Friedrich, was located in Güglingen. After the reorganization, the districts of Heilbronn , Besigheim , Vaihingen , Maulbronn and the Grand Duchy of Baden were neighbors of the district that was assigned to the Neckar District from 1818 to 1924 .

In 1926 the area of ​​the Oberamt Brackenheim comprised 30 communities with a total area of ​​223.52 km². There were 11,086 buildings within the Oberamtsbereich, including 4,500 ancillary buildings. The resident population in 1925 was around 31,800 people.

From 1815 to 1918, the upper offices of Württemberg also served as electoral districts for the assemblies of estates from 1815 to 1819, the Chamber of Deputies of the Württemberg estates and the three state assemblies that revised or advised the constitution from 1849 to 1850.
