history

Oberamt Nürtingen, area status 1813, with the previous rule and office boundaries

The city of Nürtingen had been the capital of a Württemberg bailiwick since the beginning of the 14th century . The resulting office, since 1758 Oberamt, was one of the smaller administrative districts of the duchy. In 1807, as part of the reorganization of the Oberamt, the Oberamt Neuffen, which is adjacent to the south, was incorporated into it. At the same time, however, the newly created Kameralamt (financial authority) of the Nürtingen district of Oberamts, which was created by King Friedrich as a result of the restructuring of the state economy, was located in Neuffen .

Altdorf, which belonged to the monastery office of Denkendorf until 1808, was also old Württemberg. Unterboihingen, the only predominantly Catholic village in the district, and the Hammetweil estate were registered as the property of Barons Thumb von Neuburg in the knightly canton of Neckar-Black Forest of the Swabian Imperial Knighthood until 1806 .

After the reorganization, neighbors were the Württemberg regional authorities in Stuttgart , Eßlingen , Kirchheim , Urach and Tübingen .
