Oberamt Schorndorf
The Oberamt Schorndorf was an administrative district in Württemberg (on attached map no. 48 ), which was renamed the Schorndorf district in 1934 and dissolved in 1938. The communities were mainly assigned to the district of Waiblingen , which in turn became part of the Rems-Murr district due to the district reform in 1973 . For general remarks on the Württemberg upper offices, see Oberamt (Württemberg) .
history
As early as the 14th century, the town of Schorndorf was the capital of a Württemberg bailiwick, which consisted partly of old property around Beutelsbach, partly of former Staufer possessions. The resulting office, from 1758 Oberamt, Schorndorf received an addition in 1807 through part of the abolished monastery office Adelberg , on the other hand had to give Rudersberg and Plüderhausen to the Oberamt Welzheim and Endersbach, Großheppach and Strümpfelbach to the Oberamt Waiblingen. Neighbors of the district assigned to the Jagstkreis from 1818 to 1924 were the Oberämter Welzheim , Eßlingen , Göppingen , Cannstatt and Waiblingen after the reorganization .
Former gentlemen
In 1813, after the regional reform was completed, the district was made up of parts that had belonged to the following rulers in 1800:
-
Duchy of Württemberg
Most places belonged to the secular Oberamt Schorndorf. Hundsholz, Oberberken, Steinenberg, Buhlbronn, Miedelsbach, Birken- and Vorderweißbuch as well as parts of Asperglen and Necklinsberg belonged to the monastery office in Adelberg . -
Imperial Knighthood Aichelberg was enrolled in
the knightly canton of Kocher, the Swabian knighthood, as an Ellwangian fiefdom owned by the Barons von Holtz.

Changes in the community since 1813
After the constitution of 1819 had prepared the basis for communal self-government , the communes in the modern sense were constituted from the “mayor shops”.
In 1819, Asperglen, Buhlbronn and Vorderweißbuch separated from their parent community in Steinenberg. Hößlinswart, which previously belonged to Schornbach, was raised to the status of an independent municipality. The two municipalities of Oberurbach and Unterurbach emerged from the Urbach mayor's workshop.
In 1824, Baiereck and Oberberken were separated from Hundsholz and made independent communities. Schlichten was reassigned from Thomashardt to Winterbach.
In 1825, Hegenlohe was separated from Thomashardt and made an independent municipality.
In 1828 Rohrbronn, which first belonged to Hebsack, then to Winterbach, was raised to the status of an independent municipality.
In 1842 the community of Aichschieß (with Krummhardt) was transferred from the Oberamt Schorndorf to the Oberamt Eßlingen. Baach was separated from Aichschieß and assigned to the community of Schnait.
In 1849 Schlichten was separated from Winterbach and made an independent municipality.
In 1856 Miedelsbach was separated from Steinenberg and raised to the status of an independent municipality.
Around 1860 the Metzlinsweiler Hof was reassigned from Haubersbronn to Buhlbronn.
In 1926 the Nassachmühle was changed from Baiereck to Uhingen (Oberamt Göppingen).
In 1932 Kottweil was reassigned from Schornbach to Steinach (Oberamt Waiblingen).
