Haubersbronn is the second largest of the districts of Schorndorf , has around 3,300 inhabitants and is located in the lower Wieslauftal at the foot of the Welzheimer Forest .

history

Originally the area was probably owned by the Staufers; In a document from 1260, tithe and other rights as well as the chaplaincy of the Elchingen Monastery are mentioned for the first time , which passed to Württemberg in 1536 . Individual tithe rights were also owned by Lorch Abbey , the Constance Cathedral Monastery and the Schorndorfer parish. Political rule should have passed to Württemberg together with Schorndorf after 1246.

Haubersbronn 1685 (view from Andreas Kieser's forest warehouse books )

In the document that Haubersbronn first mentions, it was called Hubrecht , and there was also a reference to a well , which, however, did not necessarily have to have been a dug and cased well, as springs were also called wells in the past . There were many sources in the foothills of the Welzheimer Wald towards the Wieslauftal. The name Hubertsbrunnen probably goes back to the bishop Hubert von Lüttich , although he was never in the Rems valley himself . The fountain then gave the village its name when people cleared the forest here in the 9th century and laid out meadows, fields and perhaps even vineyards and built their houses near the fountain.

In 1367 the Counts of Württemberg bought the hamlet of Metzlinsweiler Mühle from the Adelberg Monastery , whose tithe rights were also held by the Constance Cathedral Monastery .

On January 1, 1975, Haubersbronn was incorporated into Schorndorf on the occasion of the regional reform .

coat of arms

The Haubersbronn coat of arms shows a two-part shield. On the right, on a red background, a white (silver) key with a beard pointing to the left; on the left, on a white (silver) background, an inverted red ploughshare. As a reminder that Haubersbronn was the westernmost place of the diocese of Augsburg until the Reformation , the archive management advised to adopt the color combination of the diocese - the Wieslauf once represented the border between the dioceses of Augsburg and Constance - and a ploughshare to distinguish it from other municipal coats of arms to insert. In November 1954 the coat of arms was adopted by the municipal council, who wanted the key to be an indication of the location of the place at the entrance to the Wieslauftal. At the same time, this symbol reminds of the chaplaincy in Haubersbronn, founded in 1470, which had Saint Peter as patron.

Facilities

Protestant church

Between 1470 and 1480, today's Protestant church was built on the site of a proven, smaller late Romanesque building. The choir side tower suggests a planned elevation to the parish church. In the choir of the church, Saint Wendelin , after the church is named, is depicted next to Mary and the baby Jesus in the net vault . Until 1565 Haubersbronn was parish in Schorndorf.

Catholic Church

Up until the end of the Second World War there were no Catholic believers in Haubersbronn, with the allocation of expellees mainly Catholics came to Haubersbronn, so that there was a need for a Catholic church. This was consecrated to Saint Boniface on July 24, 1955 .

Other facilities

In Haubersbronn there is a primary school, two kindergartens, a New Apostolic parish, playgrounds and sports fields, a teaching pool, a multi-purpose and a gymnasium.
