Schnait is a district of the large district town of Weinstadt in the Rems-Murr district .

The place was first mentioned in 1238 as Snait . In the 16th century, Schnait became the ancestral seat of the Gaisberg family . In 1555 the village came into the possession of the Limpurg taverns . On July 10, 1596, Schnait was taken over by Württemberg . Schnait received the Limpurg taverns back on November 18, 1602. In 1607, Schnait was finally transferred to Württemberg through an exchange. The community belonged to the Oberamt Schorndorf . After the dissolution of the Schorndorfer Oberamt, Schnait was assigned to the Waiblingen district in 1938 . In 1971, the Catholic Church of the Holy Cross was opened in the traditionally Protestant- dominated Schnait . On January 1, 1975, Schnait and other communities became part of the new community of Weinstadt .
