history

The Oberamt was formed in 1806 exclusively from areas that had come under Württemberg sovereignty with the Pressburg Peace Treaty and the Rhine Confederation Act . The district, which was assigned to the Danube District from 1818 to 1924, bordered the Württemberg regional authorities of Riedlingen , Waldsee and Ravensburg , the Grand Duchy of Baden and the Principality of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen (from 1850 Prussian administrative district Sigmaringen ).
